Security Compliance Certifications

Your customers, partners, and regulators increasingly ask for independent proof that your security program works. Temple of Epiphany helps organizations choose the right framework, close the gaps, and walk into the audit prepared. Explore the three most-requested frameworks below, each with its own guide and resource list.

SOC 2

An AICPA attestation report, issued by a licensed CPA firm, covering the Trust Services Criteria: Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy. The most common requirement for US SaaS and cloud service providers selling to enterprise customers. Read the SOC 2 guide.

ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27017

ISO/IEC 27001 is the international certification for an Information Security Management System (ISMS), issued by an accredited certification body on a three-year cycle. ISO/IEC 27017 adds cloud-specific security controls for cloud service providers and customers. Preferred by international and global enterprise buyers. Read the ISO 27001/27017 guide.

HITRUST

A certifiable framework that harmonizes HIPAA, NIST, ISO, PCI DSS, and other requirements into one assessment, offered at three levels (e1, i1, and r2). The standard expectation for organizations that handle protected health information for healthcare payers and providers. Read the HITRUST guide.

Which One Do You Need?
  • Selling SaaS to US enterprises: start with SOC 2.

  • Selling internationally or to global enterprises: ISO/IEC 27001, adding 27017 if you operate cloud services.

  • Handling health data for payers, providers, or health systems: HITRUST, often alongside SOC 2.

  • Not sure: a gap assessment maps your existing controls to all three so you can build once and certify many times.
